Important Information about Forwarding |
The forwarding system is designed to help ensure you don't miss any important communications from off campus, even if the person sending it doesn't have your new e-mail address. You must set up forwarding for the system to work for you. It does not automatically forward without you telling it to do so. The forwarding system will be in operation at least five years, but you can turn off forwarding at any time you choose. Please notify everyone you wish to communicate with to contact you at your new address as soon as possible. |

|
|
Risk of Data Loss |
If you do not set up forwarding correctly, you could lose all incoming e-mail. Please follow the directions as closely as possible. |
| |
|
|
Time Element |
For most people, setting up forwarding will take only a few minutes. |

Methods |
You must set up forwarding for the system to work for you. While you don't have to do any of these, we recommend doing all of the methods listed below for a complete transition. You may miss something important if you don't do them.
- Set Up Forwarding - have Internet e-mail addressed to UVSC forwarded to your UVU account
- Set Up UVSC Folder - have all UVSC bound Internet e-mail placed into a folder in your UVU account so you can notify the sender of your new address
- Set Up GroupWise Forwarding - ensure items sent within the UVSC system are forwarded to your UVU account

Set Up Forwarding for Off-Campus Messages |
The UVSC to UVU Forwarding Utility was designed to give you control over how Internet (off campus) messages sent to your UVSC e-mail address are handled. You will want to set up forwarding for each address at which you normally receive e-mail. For instance, if you normally receive at sixlasttwofirst@uvsc.edu, but sometimes you receive at first.last@uvsc.edu, you'll want to create forwarding policies for both addresses.

Set Up UVSC Folder |
You can set up a folder in your UVU account into which all Internet e-mail sent to your UVSC account will be placed when forwarded. This will provide you with a record of everyone who is still using your old e-mail address so you can notify them of your new address. This rule works for all e-mail that includes your address on the To: or CC: lines, but not on the BC: line. Messages in which you are a BC recipient will arrive in your normal UVU inbox. This step is done using the UVU GroupWise System.

Set Up GroupWise Forwarding for On-Campus Messages |
If you don't want to have to check your UVSC account constantly until you decide to terminate it, you can set up the old system to forward all messages received in it to your UVU account (which includes disabling all the old rules that might do other things with incoming messages). This way you won't miss any important messages sent to you by someone who hasn't made the transition yet. This step is done using the UVSC GroupWise System.
